What are Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMR)?
Discharge Monitoring Reports are reports required of facilities that discharge pollutants into the waters of the United States as directed by The U.S. Clean Water Act (CWA) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations. Covered facilities must monitor discharges and submit wastewater sampling data to the appropriate NPDES permitting authority. This submission is known as the DMR.
Why Should I Prepare Discharge Monitoring Reports?
In order to comply with regulations under the CWA, facilities that require a NPDES permit must complete and submit a DMR. DMR submission must be performed electronically through your applicable state or federal NetDMR reporting system. Failure to comply with the conditions of your NPDES permit, including inaccurate or incomplete DMR submission can result in fines and compulsory compliance actions that often total in the millions of dollars.
